Veterans Benefits (For U.S. Students)

The International University of Barbados – School of Medicine honors the commitment and service of U.S. military veterans. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has approved VA educational benefits for all eligible students enrolled in our programs.

If you have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, you may qualify under one of the following programs:

  • Chapter 30 – Montgomery GI Bill

  • Chapter 32 – Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)

  • Chapter 33 – Post 9/11 GI Bill

  • Chapter 35 – Dependents Educational Assistance Program

  • Chapter 1606 – Montgomery GI Bill / Selected Reserve Educational Assistance

  • Chapter 1607 – Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)

How to Apply:

  1. Visit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs VA Website to review program details.

  2. Click on the "Road Map for Success" to begin your application.

  3. Once you receive your Certificate of Eligibility, email it to our Financial Aid Officer at:
    finaid@iub.edu.bb

Canada Student Loan Program

The International University of Barbados – School of Medicine is recognized by the Government of Canada and listed on the CanLearn Master Designated List (MDL).

Students from the following provinces and territories are eligible to apply for government-funded student loans:

  • Alberta

  • New Brunswick

  • Newfoundland & Labrador

  • Northwest Territories

  • Nova Scotia

  • Nunavut

  • Ontario (also eligible for OSAP)

  • Prince Edward Island

  • Saskatchewan

  • Yukon

Indian students can apply for educational loans through various Indian banks. Loans typically range from ₹5–10 Lakhs/year without collateral and up to ₹20 Lakhs or more with collateral.
